What: Bret Michaels
When: 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20
Where: Stir Cove, Harrah’s Casino, Council Bluffs
As Zen philosopher Bret Michael Sychak – or was it Basho? – once so eloquently said: Every rose has its thorn. Indeed. And, every summer concert season has its end.
For the 4,000-seat outdoor concert hot spot known as Stir Cove, at Harrah's Casino in Council Bluffs, that end comes on Friday, Sept., when it concludes its 2013 season with a show featuring rocker Bret Michaels.
The Poison lead singer and now solo star and reality TV stalwart will bring a slew of hits – "Talk Dirty to Me," "I Want Action," "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," "Nothin' But A Good Time" and "Unskinny Bop," among others – with him to his 8 p.m. show.
We're lucky to get this concert. Michaels, who has had a few serious health scares in recent years, is a busy guy. In addition to concerts, he has to fit in time for reality TV gigs that have ranged from Celebrity Apprentice 3 (which he won) to his current show, Rock My RV (Sundays on the Travel Channel).
P.S. I remember the Basho quote now: A flute with no holes is not a flute. And a donut with no holes ... is a Danish." He was a funny guy.
Oh, and one more thing. Here's a fun fact: Michaels' sister, Michelle Sychak, lives in Omaha.
