What: Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, with Loverboy and fireworks!
When: 6 p.m. Friday, June 28
Where: Memorial Park, just off of 60th and Dodge streets
The wife-and-husband duo of Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo are set to hit you with their best shot (wow, that was really lame, sorry) on Friday, June 28, when they headline a free concert at Memorial Park, which will end with a massive fireworks display for the expected crowd of 60,000-plus.
I'm most excited about who will warm the stage for Benatar. After the Morgan Leigh Band, winner of the "Opening Band Contest," kicks things off at 6 p.m., '80s rockers Loverboy will take the stage.
"Turn Me Loose," "Working for the Weekend," "The Kid Is Hot Tonight" – oh, yeah, bring on the red leather, baby. I'm ready! I know it probably won't happen, but how cool would it be if Loverboy sang "Working for the Weekend" while a video of the classic Saturday Night Live skit featuring Patrick Swayze and Chris Farley trying out for the Chippendales played on a big screen? Answer: Very. That song was the one Farley and Swayze danced to in the grueling audition on SNL, and you can watch it again by clicking on the video link below.
The fireworks will begin about 10 p.m. Expect a massive crowd, and remember – "Love Is A Battlefield," so be careful out there. (Geez, lame again!)
