What: "All Is Lost"
When: 4:45, 7:15, 9:35 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5
Where: Film Streams, 1340 Mike Fahey St.
Hardly any dialog. A single actor – lost at sea and in dire straits.
The first thing I thought of after reading that description was "Castaway," which mostly focused on Tom Hanks’ character alone on a deserted island ... surrounded by the sea. "All Is Lost," on the other hand, takes place entirely at sea. But the premise is the same: Survival.
Robert Redford stars in this critically adored film, which has earned a 95% approval rating from online movie review aggregator RottenTomatoes.com. It opened last week at Film Streams, 1340 Mike Fahey St., and continues this week (see filmstreams.org for more show times). Judging by the riveting trailer, this is going to be compelling cinema.
The official teaser clip – which you can see by clicking on the link below – certainly hooked me. I must see this one. I loved "Castaway," and I have a feeling this one will be equally intriguing as Redford’s character tries desperately to beat the odds and survive his gut-check predicament.
