What: Two Kaneko Exhibits
When: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday
Where: Kaneko, 1111 Jones St.
Jun Kaneko – the internationally (and especially locally) adored artist whose dango art pieces are landmark works – has never been called conventional when it comes to his art. So no one should be surprised that the Japan-born, Omaha-based artists just opened not one but two new exhibits simultaneously at his namesake gallery, the Kaneko, 1111 Jones St., in the Old Market.
The first one, "From the Collection: Jun Kaneko's Stacked – An Exploration In Density and Line," features six "sound sculptures" (three ceramic, three glass-work) that are box-shaped lattice-work pieces (see sample above).
The second exhibit, "From the Collection: Jun Kaneko's Special Project – Fremont Dangos," brings together for the first time six 11-foot ceramic pieces he calls dangos.
The Kaneko is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
