Yo Gabba Gabba - Nickelodeon's hipster-on-psychedelics version of Sesame Street-meets-Pee Wee's Playhouse - has featured a lot of cool guests over the years, from Jack Black and several SNLalums, including Andy Samberg and Fred Armisen to Tony Hawk, Elijah Wood and regular guest, Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh, who offers drawing lessons with "Mark's Magic Pictures."
A lot of hip bands have played on Yo Gabba Gabba, too, from the Roots and the Flaming Lips to the Aquabats and even Omaha's the Faint. But none of those popular actors or bands come close to matching the crazy awesomeness of Leslie Hall (pictured above in her trademark gold Spandex jumpsuit) who will bring her band the LY's to the Waiting Room on THURSDAY (March 13).
If you've caught an episode or two of the children's show Yo Gabba Gabba then you might have seen Hall singing and doing the "Dancey Dance" with the show's DJ Lance. Her band's music captures that same quirky-weird vibe with satirical raps and poppy-go-goofy beats.
Before we go any further, let's be perfectly clear: This is an adult show. Don't bring the kiddies to this one.
Watching one of Leslie & the LY's videos will give you a great idea of what you're in for at the Waiting Room. Just click on the first link at right to see her video to "No Pants Policy." If that flips your pancake, you MUST watch her video to "Tight Pants" – click on the second link at right to see that one. WARNING: You'll be singing the chorus long after the music stops: "Watch out for my body rolls, watch out for my body rolls. High kicks, high kicks – this is how we do it."
