I don't know about you, but I prefer my Christmas music big band style. I just like the way it snaps, crackles and pops from the brass horns. That's why I'm jazzed about seeing the Shaun Johnson Big Band Experience on WEDNESDAY (Dec. 18) at the Witherspoon Theater inside of the Joslyn Art Museum, 2200 Dodge St.
Johnson – the Emmy-winning lead singer of Minneapolis' Tonic Sol-fa and a young Barry Manilow look-a-like – brings his sizzling, eight-piece Big Band Experience to town for a stop on their "Spirit of the Season Tour." They'll be playing a blend of holiday standards and original material that mixes a dash of Sinatra with a sprinkle of Michael Buble. It's an engaging style that has a broad appeal. Should be a nice night.
Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show are $27 in advance, $32 day of the show, and are available at ticketomaha.com (402-345-0606).
