What: Goose Bumps!
When: Now Open
Where: Durham Museum, 801 S. 10th St.
“Goose Bumps! The Science of Fear” is now open at the Durham Museum, 801 S. 10th St. And I'm a little concerned.
Now, to be sure, the Durham says the exhibit is "fun and safe," but I'm approaching with caution.
The exhibit begins with a "Fear Challenge Course" that features a variety of ways to test your fears. The first one, "Fear of Animals," dares you to "reach into concealed terrariums that might be the home of creepy-crawly creatures, on loan from the Henry-Doorly Zoo." Why throw that word "might" into the equation? The next challenge is "Fear of Electric Shock" where you may "feel your heart pounding as you anticipate getting zapped by a jolt of electricity." What the ... is that all about?!? The last one is the "Fear of Falling" challenge. Really? I hope the Durham has upped its liability insurance for this one.
