What: Dr. San Guinary Movie Screening
When: 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13
Where: Scottish Rite Theater, 20th and Douglas streets
Any Generation Xer who grew up in Omaha in the '70s knows the frightful joy of Creature Feature, the famed Saturday night series, and its beloved host Dr. San Guinary. From 1971 to 1982, the creepy but comical Dr. San Guinary and his sidekick Igor entertained TV audiences each week by introducing classic scare flicks like 1935's Bride of Frankenstein, 1931's Dracula or 1941's The Wolf Man.
Fast forward to 2013. There's a new actor – Chris Palmer – playing Dr. San Guinary (shown above). And he's keeping classic horror movies – and new ones – alive and well in Omaha. On FRIDAY the 13th Dr. San Guinary will host a special event at the Scottish Rite Theater, 20th and Douglas streets, featuring actor Tyler Mane in person.
Mane (also pictured above)– who played Sabretooth in X-Men and Michael Myers in Rob Zombie's remake of Halloween – will screen his new film Compound Fracture. Mane will also host a meet and greet at the event beginning at 6 p.m., and a post-show Q&A after the 7:30 p.m. screening. It's the perfect mix for a scare-filled Friday the 13th.
