Is there really an easy way out?
There are all sorts of promises out there, but are they real?

I have to admit, I am one of those people who fall prey to promises of "the easy way out" when it comes to weight loss. You know the ones..."take this supplement and you will lose weight WITHOUT exercising" or "this berry has been proven to make he weight just fall off". Ok, maybe not those specific ones, but you know what I'm talking about. I still have a 6 month supply of the "berry" supplement sitting in my closet.

A friend of mine is trying out some sort of contraption that is supposed to vibrate the fat away. I love that concept! Of course, I read her post on a certain social networking site and I just had to look it up. Oh my gosh! I want one of those machines. Can you imagine getting an hour's workout in just 10 minutes just by standing on a machine that jiggles you all over? It reminds me of a contraption my mom had back in the '60s where she got on this platform and put a belt-like thing around her that was attached to the machine and then turned it on and the belt vibrated you. Come to think of it, I don't think it worked for her. Darn! I guess if this vibrating machine worked, we'd be hearing way more about it. Oh, well... I guess I'll have to wait for the next sure-fire weight loss miracle!

I do like to "accumulate" things that are supposed to help me on my journey. I have new running shoes, but since I don't run, I decided I needed new walking shoes... they are on their way. I also bought a video "game" to help me with resistance training. That came last week and I can see the box sitting on the floor.

It's the thought that counts, right? Apparently not when it comes to getting healthy, it's all about action! I do know that and I have been slowly changing the things that I do and the things that I eat. I am taking the advice I am getting about it being a slow process and a long journey and I am ok with that. My kids go back to school the 20th and even though I love them with all of my heart, I can't wait! I need to get into a routine for exercising. Did I mention I bought a jogging stroller so that I can take my 2 year old on walks after we drop his big brothers off at school? That is one contraption I can't wait to use!

I do have to end this with ONE BIG FAT APOLOGY to everyone who reads my blog, to my fellow bloggers and especially to Jayme and Jennifer. I am so sorry I haven't held up my end of the blogging deal. I can try and offer up reasons, but they don't really matter, what matters is is that I am back and ready to go. I haven't read this weeks BetterU program yet so I am off to do that. I'll let you know my thoughts on that later.

Have a happy and healthy day!
