It was a warm and moist overnight with lows only near 60 degrees. The majority of the rain fell in extreme SE Nebraska, NW Missouri & western Iowa. We did see a few light showers pop just after 7 AM & they moved through Omaha and are continuing to press into Iowa:

It's going to take most of the day, but I'm hopeful that we will see some sun break through the clouds this afternoon. As of 9 AM, western Nebraska is seeing some bright sunshine.....

A very strong cold front will move into the area this evening, bringing some strong to possibly severe thunderstorms to the Heartland. The Storm Prediction Center has parts of Nebraska under a moderate risk of severe storms late this afternoon. Here in the Omaha Metro, we are included in a slight risk area. We would most likely see the strongest storms after 7 PM as the front approaches.

Hail will be the primary threat, along with some heavy rains in a few locations.
Tomorrow will be very chilly, if not downright cold. The high for the day should occur in the morning, in the low 60s, then we'll see low to mid 40s for the rest of the day! Combine those temperatures with gusty NW winds of up to 30 mph, and wind chills in the low 30s will be the rule. Quite a shock after the 70s of yesterday & today.
So shorts today & winter coats for Friday. Enjoy the lightning tonight ( and hopefully the hail won't be THAT big )!
