Since the school year has come to an end for most of the students, it makes sense that the Schoolcast is no longer needed on Daybreak.  In it's place we have the Summer Livingcast with a new section featuring Things To Do!  We'll use this segment to showcase events in Omaha and the surrounding area.  I would love to have some ideas to put in this segment since you can only find so much on the Internet (Ha, spellcheck says Internet should be capitalized, strange?)  I am looking for summer activities that are free or affordable for kids or the whole family.  If you know of anything whatsoever please post on my blog or email the details to sixonline@wowt.com.  We're looking for something for every day of the week all summer long!

Posted by: Anonymous Pick up a "Go Play" booklet from any Omaha Public Library. It has 34 different places to go, most of them free parks or cheap activities.

I am pretty sure that the libraries have programs for most kids.

Posted by: Robin Don't forget about SunDawgs that is sponsored by the Omaha Parks&Rec. It's free and at many parks. (Those purple shacks in the parks are Sun Dawg shacks!!) Kids go swimming every Friday and take something like 6 field trips through the summer. Check their website for more info. P.S. I think spellcheck is wrong about the cap issue for internet!! :)

The state parks are always a good choice. An annual permit is only $20. Pack a lunch and make a picnic out of the trek. Their Great Park Pursuit program might be interesting also.

Coming home from my mother in laws this past weekend we went through Columbus. They have a water park called Pawney Plunge, of course my four children wanted to get out and go right then, we stopped to get a flier and the charge for a 1 day pass for a family is only $25!!!! I know we will be going back, there is 6 of us in our family and we can't go anywhere for the price and enjoy ourselves!!
