I was channel surfing the other day and stumbled upon some Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd cartoons.  I sat and watched those for over an hour.  I know you're thinking, "Aren't you a little old to be watching cartoons?"  You are never too old to watch cartoons if you are watching the cartoons that you grew up watching.

Looney Tunes were household staples long before I was born but they were still great to watch when I was growing up.  Isn't it amazing how much cartoons have changed for kids.  You'll never catch an old man with a lisp carrying around a gun, trying to find a rabbit so he can shoot it.  Nothing in that sentence would come close to being on kid's cartoons today.

Most of the Looney Tunes taught us very little (I always check tunnels in the desert now to see if they are real or painted on a rock; Thank you Wile E. Coyote!!!!) so its probably better to have some more educational content in today's cartoons.  However, its good to know that you can still find Looney Tunes on TV every once in a while!

I completely agree with Dan and Rick! All the cartoons now try to be politically correct. My favorite cartoon was Bugs Bunny. That gets me every time!

I LOVE those old cartoons. Nowadays, they have those really lame ones. There's like a billion different kinds of cartoons out there now. Instead of just a few...

I am total with you all on the cartoons my kids actually enjoy watching what we all grew up watching. They actually like the Flintstones and i cant actually sit and watch cartoons with them. Only if TV would go back to them.

Looney Tunes were never intended for children. They were animated shorts shown before feature films (starting in 1930)in theaters and were produced to promote Warner Brothers record and sheet music sales. They made the jump to TV in the 1950's and had to be edited because content was not suitable for children.

I'm 18 and still love Looney Tunes. When I was a little kid, the only things I ever watched on Cartoon Network were Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, and The Flintstones. All of those were real cartoons, instead of the junk they have today.

I totally agree with Dan...its back when cartooning was an art form...now its computer graphics trying to be politically correct....I love Looney Tunes and will never be too old to watch OR laugh at them...they're funny!

You know what I love most about Looney Tunes, is that they didn't dumb it down for kids. It's not big, singing, colorful monsters talking slowly and using tiny words; instead, they slipped in all kinds of cultural references, stuff that adults even have to laugh at because it's creative, and they even use classical music... a lot of creativity pumped into those, which can't be sad for most cartoons these days... Hey Rusty!

Posted by: Tim Heck yeah dude. Looney Tunes are classic. I think my favorite is the one where Bugs Bunny becomes the entire baseball team. “Bugs Bunny first base, Bugs Bunny shortstop, Bugs Bunny second base, Bugs Bunny left field…” Or when Bugs Bunny is performing a piano recital and it descends into a battle of wills (and dynamite) with the mouse living in the piano. The best part of the Looney Tunes is that Bugs Bunny was a scoundrel! He liked the girl bunnies…But that didn’t stop him from occasionally planting a big wet kiss on Elmer Fudd or Yosemite Sam (just to irritate them). Just imagine how many religious fanatics would have a heart attack if a cartoon character did that today.

Scooby Doo (the original one) is another classic that may not be so politically correct but I still enjoy watching with my 5 year old son.

I think Looney Toons taught kids an important lesson; the little guy can win. A rabbit shouldn't be able to defeat a guy with a gun. A mouse shouldn't be able to always escape the bad guys. It gave hope to the hopeless!
