This week on Heartland Focus we had on household “organizer”
Laura Anderson . She gave us some great tips lower our families stress and keeping our sanity. It all comes down to getting organized.
Here’s her “Top Ten Household Organizational Tips”:
- Laundry System-Have one! (like an assigned day, sort in each room, kids help…)
- Meal Plan-think ahead! Have a weekly menu that ties to the grocery list.
- MAIL-manage it! File, act, or toss (FAT) immediately and have a shredder nearby
- EMAIL-boundaries! Check only 2-3 times a day at set times and use FAT here too
- KidMAIL-the backpack dump! Teach them to sort and put on counter! Keep a binder
- Bills- set a monthly time to pay and file-Go paperless as much as possible!
- Tme together-schedule it! Let it be a priority you protect and schedule on in your routine!
- Gifts-have gift cards and consumables on hand-Try not to perpetuate the “stuff” cycle
- Chores-assign them and hold the family accountable! Keep cleaning supplies on each level of the house!
- Small spaces-Purge often, shop carefully, have dual functioning furniture and rotate seasonal items
