The cell phone embarrassment that I described in my previous blog should be enough for anyone to make sure it never happens in church again. Well.... Yes, it happened again but this time in our own church. Fortunately for me I was on the other end of the call. It was a Sunday morning with the change in Daylight Saving Time. I had been out of town visiting two of our sons in college and even though I factored in the time change in making my plane, I forgot driving home from the airport that the clock in my vehicle had not been changed. The dashboard time indicated church was over and I could safely call my family for lunch plans. So I did. My wife's phone rang five times with no answer so I hung up. No worries, I also had her mom's number on speed dial so within a minutes time her phone was ringing. Same response, no answer. It seemed strange and as I continued on from the airport my cell phone rang with the explanation about twenty minutes later. Sure enough, with the time change, they were right in the middle of the church service when I called, not once, but twice. My wife's frantic scramble to silence her phone lasted five rings. Then came the added embarrassment of the second interruption resounding from the same row where our family faithfully sits week after week. I would like to report that it's now mandatory for every cell phone in the family to be checked at the door before entering church but it's not. We are however, prepared to offer counseling to any other unfortunate individual that suffers a similar cell phone embarrassment in the future. Knicely Done!
