More than 1400 people attended this year's Project Harmony "Speaking of Children" luncheon.

The featured speaker, Antwone Fisher shared his incredible life experience of abuse and neglect as a child.  Fisher was born in prison and moved from foster home to foster home until age 16.  He described the unthinkable abuse he and other children in the homes suffered.  He was abruptly kicked out and left to fend for himself on the streets.

Fisher detailed his life in his book "Finding Fish" and wrote a screenplay that was used to produce a movie about his life in 2002.

I recommend his book and that you keep in mind that children in our community suffer many of the same difficulties.

The good news is that Project Harmony provides a wonderful service for children who need to be delivered from abusive situations.  A comprehensive network of professionals collaborate through Project Harmony to identify those children and give them a chance in life.

Fisher is a living miracle and his amazing story offers hope.  I strongly encourage you to read his book or rent his movie "Antwone Fisher."

I read "Finding Fish" many years ago and loved it. It's a sad, but true, story that captures your heart from page one.
