Former Nebraska Athletic Director Steve Pederson vowed several years ago to "change the culture" of Nebraska football. He succeeded and lost his job in the process. Tom Osborne's return settled the upheaval and the spring game sellout is a clear indication that Husker fans overwhelmingly support Osborne's choice for Head Coach. Everybody wants to see what an injection of Bo Pelini passion will do to a program that lost it's swagger. And it's not just the fans. I've talked with several former Nebraska standouts who felt disenfranchised by the Pederson/Callahan "culture change." During that short-lived era those players and many others received a chilly reception when they dropped by for a visit and were not encouraged to do so. Osborne's open door policy is welcoming and they tell me Pelini may not know their names but he certainly recognizes the value of their smash-mouth legacy. What comes across from Pelini and the new order he's establishing at Nebraska is that his players will go all out even if only one fan shows up at Memorial Stadium. Husker fans will appreciate that even if the team struggles in the win-loss column next fall. And don't think the invited recruits won't notice that unheard of support on Saturday when they see a stadium full of fans who turned out for an inter-squad scrimmage. Looks like a culture change for the better. Knicely Done!
