Tonight I ran a story on a day in the life of a Mom. Make that an exhausting fourteen hour day! The idea was to have our cameras rolling from sunrise to sunset and make that old saying "a mother's work is never done" come to life. The story is posted on our website but I wanted to mention something Jennifer Weikel said that we just didn't have time to relate during the newscast. Her husband Gary rolls up his sleeves and helps too. My wife Sue and I raised five children and when we rounded out the quiver with twin boys I really learned how much help a mother needs. I speak from experience when I say the father usually wants nothing more than to sit down and relax after a long days work. It's easy to be unaware of the fact that help in needed. Jennifer told me her husband has learned to recognize a certain look that prompts him to say "honey, why don't you take a break, and I'll watch the kids." As Jennifer says, "even if it's just enough time for a hot bath, it's a blessing." So Dad, a little advice from an imperfect husband and father: Pay attention to your wife's needs first, you'll both be glad you did.
