This picture illustrates how the alumni of Holy Name school in Omaha support their school.  The people who are line up in front the stage at the recent fund-raising dinner are chefs who donated their time to serve a delicious dinner.  One alum came all the way from San Diego to contribute his culinary skills for the evening.

Holy Name Elementary is located at 2901 Fontenelle Blvd and it is a light that shines brightly in the area.  The student population is diverse with about half of the youngsters African American and the other half Caucasian.

I've had the privilege of helping with the fundraiser for a number of years by serving as emcee and I've also had a chance to visit the school on several occasions.  I'm still impressed by the greeting for visitors who walk through the classroom door.  The students stand and issue a welcome in unison.

To give you an idea of how the alumni support their school, last year they raised money through a special auction item to provide an air conditioner for each classroom.  This year one of the auction items was designed for the evening crowd to chip in with contributions to cover the five thousand dollar cost of new window coverings for each classroom.  One gentleman stepped up and pledged the entire amount.

Holy Name Elementary has served our community well and the alumni are determined to have that continue in the future.
