The flurries this morning added up to about .75" in my backyard. The "flurries" hung around for about three hours and at one point from 8:30am to 10am the visibility dropped to about 3/4 mile. What I have always found interesting is the perception of the weather forecast. Case in point, it's situations like this where a relatively minimal event can have a major impact. The reason is the first snowfall of the season, regardless of the amount, combined with preceding record high temperatures typically causes a number of accidents. We have not had measurable precip this month until today so there is likely some oil on the streets, especially from the record highs in the 70's on Monday.
Do flurries in a forecast cover .50" of snow? A viewer wrote in that this was more than flurries in his area. When asked how much was on the ground, he replied, it can't be measured.
Enjoy the snow! This will likely be it for a while.
