I will be heading out into the fields over the next three days for the Nebraska firearm deer season. My brother is due in from Ohio Thursday night. I am going scouting/hunting Thursday morning. This always poses an interesting dilemma, should I shoot a nice deer or pass on it and hope that it comes along for my brother to shoot. We will be hunting near the Platte River which is a natural highway for resident and satellite deer that pass through.
The area that we'll hunt may require some bridging of the platte river in waders, as we hunt on an island. Regardless of where we go, being able to spend some time in deer camp with my brother is much more valuable than any deer that may happen our way. I hope that he is successfull and will finally break his streak of 20+ years without harvesting a buck. I only hope I can be there when he gets one.
