Ok, I Admit it. I'm Accident Prone.

It's something I've known for quite a while, if I can trip over it, fall down it, cut myself with it or just about anything else; it will find me.  I'm surprised someone hasn't banned me at this point from using knives in the kitchen, as many times as I've cut myself.  I don't allow myself to walk down stairs with my hands full anymore, because I WILL fall.  My usual excuse is that I'm just trying to do too much at one time or in too short of a time frame.  Luckily, I've never done something that has hurt me permanently, but I do have a lot of scars to show for the years.

My most recent episode however, was probably one of my worst.  With the nice this past weekend, I decided to get out in the yard to clean-up some of the dead leaves and trim back some bushes.  I was working on one of those bushes with a pair of hand pruners when it happened.  I was holding the branches with my left hand, cutting with my right, and you can see where this is going.  I treated one of my fingers like a branch.  Now I should also mention I have a problem seeing my own blood.  And this cut bled a lot.  So yes, I started to get light-headed and pass out.  Thank goodness my fiance was there to get me some paper towels and get me to the couch.  Oh, and did I mention this cut was just one knuckle below my scar from last year... when I did the same exact thing?  Although that one was not as deep.  Yes, I know.

A call to my mom, a trip to the doctor's office and a tetanus shot later, maybe I've learned my lesson- prune the bushes, not my fingers.  I can remember that.. at least for this year.

So are there any other klutzes out there?  What's your story?

It's so refreshing to know that there is someone out there like me!!! Some days I feel that everything is out to get me. I get paper cuts, fall down the stairs, one book on the floor stubbs my toe, and so on. My most recent experience isn't as bloody as yours however just as painful. It was 2am, my baby crying, I went to make a bottle down stairs. I tripped on a shoe, slid down the last 3 stairs, my 3 year old left a toy out that I stepped on, then I wasn't paying attention and burnt my hand on the bottle water. I was in so much pain by the end of it, I almost forgot what I was doing in the first place. My poor baby had a battered mom feeding her that night. So I know your pain and I wish you luck. Keeping the house clean and waking up fully before I leave the bed has helped a little. I hope you have come up with your own solutions. Stay safe! =)

Posted by: Tim Jaime. Don't feel bad. I am very accident prone. Actually I refer to it a problem with gravity. I have fallen down stairs...I have fallen up stairs. If there is a patch of ice, I'm doomed to fall on my bottom. I still have the scar on my head from when a television fell on my head (don't ask, its a long story). Once I actually walked into a door and got a black eye. Then when people at work asked me what happened, I would say, "I walked into a door" and people would give me that skeptical look like they're thinking somebody beat up on me.
