Last night Live at Five, a story was featured on Memorial Day weekend travel. A spokesperson from AAA said US travel is anticipated to be up 1.5% this year compared to last. So, approximately 32.4 million Americans will be hittin' the road for at least 50 miles to reach their destination. The good news is gas prices are down about a dollar and a half from where they were last time this year in Omaha. The bad news--the economy looks much more dismal for the summer of 2009 versus 2008. So I'm wondering what you guys are thinking for the holiday--going somewhere or staying home? And for that matter what about the summer, stay or go? There have been some interesting articles on msnbc.com and yahoo.com about the economy's effects on summer vacation, traffic, lifestyle, EVERYTHING! By the way...if you want ideas of a new place to visit..check out one writer's opinions at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30158477/ns/travel-seasonal/ Something cool I came across on Wednesday 5/20 where Omaha and Council Bluffs were featured: http://www.yahoo.com/ and click on travel. From there featured cities are displayed as destination getaways. Hopefully our two towns will still be there:) Another fun one on amusement parks: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30770013/ns/travel-family/ Whatever your plans are hope you have a safe and happy holiday weekend. Welcome to the summer!

I don't think it matters so much where I go, just as long as I go somewhere...because I'm rugged and ready! Posted by: Bob Location: Omaha Hi Caitlin, we are in Los angeles for a week or so, I miss the weather in omaha, everything is same here day after day, temps, clouds and smog :) But having fun, we drove here, gas isnt too high yet to not drive. |
