.....and other heavily used "weather words."

Now let me preface by saying that I, like majority of us, love long stretches of beautiful weather and pleasant temperatures.  However, being an on-air meteorologist sometimes makes it difficult to find new ways to say "it is nice outside."  I like to always find new vocabulary to implement in my forecasts but certain words are hard to replace.  For example...how many different words convey sunny?  Or nice?  Or cloudy?  Or not nice?  It's much easier when there is active weather where more interesting verbs and adjectives come into play when describing what is happening.  One of my favorite examples is the abundance of  "S" words used in place of "hot".  Sizzling, steaming, sweltering, scorching, searing, you get the point.  Another example is in the way you use action verbs..in lieu of saying a front is "moving" into the region you could replace that with driving, plunging, sagging, crawling, sliding, bombarding, the list goes on and on...

Yet when it comes to everyday fair weather that's when my verbiage becomes quite limited.  I hate to sound repetitive on air so throw out any ideas you've got for better ways to say our everyday "it's sunny and nice."  I appreciate any creative!

It looks like there may not be a need for synonyms for sunny and nice for a while, but here are a few to save for spring. Nice: balmy, lovely, captivating, intoxicating, delightful, gentle. Sunny: bright, dazzling, cheery, sunshiny, glorious, promising, lustrous, vibrant. Can't wait til you can use 'em! Bring on spring!

People do not mind sunny or nice. We would rather hear that any day of the week, rather than: a front is driving, plunging, sagging, crawling, sliding, bombarding into the region....

I totally agree, however I have to say that being in this great state of Michigan it isn't always nice out the way it seems to be in Omaha. We got battered by Ike, its gone from hot to cold back to hot and then now cold again. However nothing compares to the great weather of State College which seems to exceed expectations of unpredictability. The weather sounds gorgeous out there in the plains, keep up the good work, you know all use Nittany Lions love your webcasts even though the weather does not apply to where we are...
