I was off work last week so my wife and I went to Las Vegas for a few days. We've been there a number of times -- but never have we seen the Las Vegas strip so empty on a Sunday night. There wasn't a single car. Did I mention there wasn't any noise either? Cabs couldn't be found. Honking was non-existent. The reason: the strip was shut down so the city could host a marathon.
After the run, we noticed the mess on the ground. In the picture below, those are thousands of Dixie cups dropped by the runners who needed a quick drink. We wondered if the city had a plan to pick up the trash. Yes it did. The cups were gone in less than an hour. We should have known -- this is a city that has to pick up the adult entertainment cards that are passed out on the sidewalk all year long and get dropped seconds later.
