The head groundskeeper of TD Ameritrade Park told me halfway through the series that he had a stack of flattened beach balls about two feet high tucked behind the center field wall.

It seems that if you bring a beach ball to the game or if you catch one momentarily, you're supposed to write something witty on it.  Most of what I saw made it seem more as a substitute to a bathroom wall at a rest stop -- "For a good time, call..."

The t-shirt company Sports Mania had a poor CWS according to the president of the company.

John Smith told me he "took a beating this year" with his four locations around the ballpark.  He said the series was just too spread out to know how to plan supply and to capture the demand.

He came up to us during a live shot Wednesday night.  He said he debated whether to take all the unsold gear to South Carolina since they are the champions or to Florida where his company is based.  Instead, he's staying in Omaha for a few weeks hoping to sell the hats and shirts for half-price to the fans who have supported the series for decades.

Did you notice how much water was dripping from above in certain places in the stadium concourse?  MECA says it's working on the issue.  Early indicators point to condensation from the pipes above that flow between the suites.  Just some of the growing pains of a new stadium.
