On Sunday, I needed to come to work to finish up a story that ran that night.  My son wanted to come with me.  He loves seeing all the televisions and gadgets around.

I knew it wouldn't take long and that my wife could use some peace and quiet, so after wards, I suggested one of the things on my son's bucket list for the year -- go to Family Fun Center.  I figured why not cross that off.

So after a half-hour at work and a chicken sandwich and double-cheeseburger later at Burger King (cost: $2:14), we headed to the giant arcade.  My son didn't know what to think of the place.  He had seen the commercials and really fell in love with Laser Tag.

Instead, we put $5 in the token machine and wandered around for awhile.  He could barely contain his excitement when he saw the Star Wars game.  Soon, he would be shooting at Imperial Walkers in the desert.  It's the only game we went back to.

After that, my son had another suggestion.  Let's look around the Nebraska Furniture Mart.  This is one of his joys.  He wants to check out everything -- from kitchens to car stereos, video games and cameras, iPods and cell phones.  We spent at least an hour there walking around.  We even looked at bedroom sets for children.  He loves dreaming about all the hiding places bunk beds provide.

When we got home, he told me, "Dad, that was the best day ever."

I told him to loudly repeat that to his mother.
