My wife and I spent last week in Las Vegas. Even though we timed it in between two snow storms, it was still a decent getaway. There are always tons of interesting stories there. Here's one -- I was walking into the restroom at Paris after watching the water show across the street at the Bellagio. Language lessons were taking place over the loudspeaker. The hotel was helping people learn or perhaps refine their French. Or at least that's what I thought until I heard the classroom phrases. In school, I remember phrases that would come up and they never seemed like you would use them in real life. That's what this was. The first phrase I heard was: "Excuse me, do you know how to remove glitter from my sweater?" Who doesn't ask that a million times right? The second phrase to be learned was even better: "I shaved my legs for this?" Only in Vegas. Brian |
