Last Friday, Santa made his annual stop before Christmas at Village Pointe shopping center. As in past year, families gather in the courtyard and line the street through the middle of the mall waiting for his arrival and the tree lighting. Soon, we saw the marching band followed by mascots, elves and even the grinch. Santa wasn't far behind. Remember this was Black Friday. I had forgotten about it until this moment. An SUV that was parked in front of one of the stores started to back out into the street seemingly trying to go home until the crowd started to holler at the driver. The Suburban would have been leading Santa through the throng of people. The driver must have realized what was happening and waited for Santa in his carriage to pass by. But not for long. He followed Santa in for the tree lighting. At that point I saw security come blazing by. It made for an interesting Christmas story. Brian |
