My son had his Halloween parade yesterday at school. I always enjoy seeing the costumes and how they evolve each year. Out of the 100 or so kindergarteners, I spotted six Darth Vaders in the class. I think that has to do with the Cartoon Network's hit show Star Wars: The Clone Wars. That is how my son came to know the characters. (by the way, he's one of the Darth Vaders) Power Rangers are also popular this year even though I thought the show went away years ago. There were witches and princesses, super heroes and sweethearts. I even saw Luigi and Mario. I'm sure the popularity of the Wii and DS are linked to that. The only disappointment for my son is Darth Vader was without his lightsaber. The school made sure the children knew this rule: No weapons allowed in the parade - real or imagined. What is popular in your household this year? |
