We all have bad days on the job, right? Some of us can mask our irritability. Some of us wear our emotions on our sleeves. Recently, I attended a concert at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs with my brother. It was the Kings of Leon concert. It was a great show but there was something weird that happened early on and everyone was let in on it mid-way through the concert. While the rest of the band kept playing, the lead singer was having an animated discussion with a member of the road crew next to the stage who was running either some sound or lights. I wasn't sure. Several songs later I had forgotten about the confrontation but the lead singer reminded the whole crowd. It went something like this: "I was really depressed early in the show but you fans stayed behind us. Sorry for how we sounded though. I think it's been fixed. I've been looking forward to the end of the tour. We can see the end is near. Man, sometimes we work with idiots though!" Clearly he was calling out this guy in a very public way. I thought they sounded great all along. I couldn't tell the difference but clearly the band could. One thing is for sure -- I don't think the guy he pointed out will be touring with them again. |
