My son is planning on being a firefighter for Halloween this year. It's a big day. He's graduated from dressing up like animal each year (skunk, kangaroo, chicken) to real people and actual careers. He's told me that's what he wants to do when he grows up. This afternoon on the way to preschool he had another idea. He says he wants to be a teacher at his preschool. "I want to teach so badly!" he exclaimed. I told him that being a teacher is also an admirable job. He wasn't done with his plan. He said that whenever I get tired of working at Channel 6, I could work alongside him as a teacher. I told him that would be great. But then he got to thinking. How would they fit two more people into the preschool as teachers? He had an answer. We would only be able to start our jobs if two of the teachers 'passed on.' His words, not mine. He later told the teachers this. One of them remarked: "Why do I have to pass on? Can't I just retire?" My son didn't wait to answer. He had to play blocks. |
