It used to be bumper stickers that set some cars apart from the others. I don't see those much anymore. Instead, personalized plates seem to be getting more popular every year. I saw this license plate the other day at the Hy-Vee parking lot: ELKMAHA. Having covered the controversy for months, it clicked right away for me and told that to the driver. The passenger explained: "It takes some people awhile to figure it out -- but then they get it." I didn't ask what they thought of the annexation. I think the plate speaks for them. What type of unusual plates have you spotted? Let me know. Brian |

"KY FAN" I mean, she had a Kentucky bumper sticker too, but golly, that sucker is really open to interpretation. I'm not sure I'd give that one out if I worked in the DMV. Full disclosure: it was an Iowa plate. Posted by: Jerry Location: Omaha I boght mine on Jan. 3, 1998. They read as follows: 255 49 3 If you don`t recognize it, the numbers are Coach Tom Osborne`s coaching record. People used to recognize the numbers but now I usually have to explain them. Sorry if I sound like I am bragging but I think they are great. Posted by: KMRF Location: Omaha There was a short lived game show where people had to figure out what the license plate tags meant. I love trying to figure them out as we drive around town. But can't figure why any one would pay extra for one that says the name of the brand of car they are driving! Posted by: Sheila Location: Omaha Last weekend we saw an older RV full of people in their 20's or 30's. The license plate was an Iowa tag from Polk County: CSNEDDY I assume it is a tribute to Cousin Eddie from the Vacation movies. |
