Campaigns are often well-oiled machines that have the ability to change on a dime. Success dictates taking advantage of circumstances or capitalizing on your opponent's mistake. That takes us to Monday night. I won't say who the local candidate was -- but I couldn't help shake my head about one of the get-out-the-vote appearances. The candidate was scheduled to stand outside The Orpheum Theater, say 'Hello' and shake hands with those were were attending Monday nights show of the popular musical Wicked. I thought it was a good idea considering you'd have the captive audience of a couple thousand people in a short time. The only problem: Wicked doesn't have shows on Monday night! Now you see the humor. By the way, the candidate caught wind of this before arriving to the empty sidewalk. Brian |
