Maybe the race to be the fastest of the fast food restaurants has gone too far. Recently, I placed an order at the first window of a chain (I'll refrain from naming the company). The bill was $5.65. The employee asked me if I had 65-cents so that he could give me a $5.00 back. I sifted through my chain holder and came up it. I assumed they were running short on dollar bills. The clerk then asked me to wait at the first window until he gave me the go-ahead. Mind you, there wasn't a car waiting at the second window. He must have read my reaction. He volunteered that corporate was timing how fast stores delivered the drive-thru food and that the timer starts once you get to the second window. That's why he wanted me to wait at the first window because the food wasn't ready and thus, this apparent poor time wouldn't hurt the overall numbers. At least the food was hot! Brian |
