My parents always talk about how, as a kid, I didn't want my food to touch any other food on my plate. I'm not sure why but perhaps it's genetic. Yesterday, I took my son to Jimmy John's for lunch. He wanted a turkey slim sandwich with cheese. I had the Billy Club. Whether it's a cheeseburger, egg sandwich or ear of corn -- my son doesn't change his hand positions when he eats. He has one hand stuck on each end. When he's finished with a burger, he leaves what amounts to a smiley face or quarter-of-a-moon shape. In the past though, like most of us, he's eaten a sub sandwich starting at the end. Yesterday was the first time I saw him apply the other technique. Here's the proof:
And yes -- he eventually had, as he put it, two sandwiches instead of one.
