Upcoming High School Reunion

The other day I received notice of my 20-year high school reunion.  I haven't attended any of the anniversaries before.  But I'm curious to go this year.

Curious because I think many people have matured to a point where the conversation will be more about the entertaining parts of high school and our current families rather than our lots in life.  Work won't define us.

I may be wrong on all accounts.  My wife thinks so.

I don't really stay in constant touch with anyone from high school anymore.  No one else went to my college so that was the first drift.  And now, we don't live near each other.  And as each year passes, we get busier with our own lives and the phone calls and emails become fewer.

I'll let you know how it turns out.  There's one part of it I know I won't be doing though -- the planned tour of the high school building.  I don't get that.

Yes, the old cliques did indeed gravitate toward each other. I always thought I fit in the middle somewhere. I knew many of the popular kids and the jocks and the not-so-popular. You are right in that several people acted as though only 20 days had passed since high school and not 20 years.

Please fill us in on how it went. My 20-yr has been the only reunion I have attended and I was quite disappointed in how all of the old cliques gravitated together and everyone acted as if 20 years had not passed. My mother often tells me you have to get to at least 35-year reunions before people start acting "normal" and not like a bunch of gray-haired high school seniors!

Just got back from my 40th high school reunion. It was so fun. Needless to say, we are all "old" now but was so fun catching up on where life has taken us. I did do the school tour because it has changed so much that you would hardly recognize the place. It was fun listening to the stories of things that happened in the various rooms. Hope you have a good time.

You would understand the building tour if your school had changed drastically. My school was brand new when I started h.s., it has been added on two twice more than doubling the size, it doesn't resemble the original building at all. My husband went to Central the historic downtown building, it was great to tour and see all the new amenities, and the things that stayed the same.
