After a dramatic season filled with incredible talent, difficult decisions, and steals, Cassadee Pope was crowned “The Voice.” Now the television hit that has America celebrating its best voices is back. This time, new superstar coaches Shakira and Usher join past coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.
While Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green are taking a season off, the show’s unique three-stage format isn’t going anywhere. First, in the “blind” audition, coaches can hear the competing talent but can’t see them. If a coach is impressed by the contestant’s vocal skills, they push a button to choose the talent, which also swivels their chairs to face the singer. If more than one coach selects the talent, the power shifts to the contestant, who may choose which coach they want to work with throughout the competition.
Once the teams are set, the celebrity coaches will mentor their selected artists and even bring in their personal dream team of producers, stylists, songwriters, etc. to help them evolve. The Blind Auditions are followed by Battle Rounds where the talent sings to survive one-on-one battles within their own coach’s team, effectively cutting the team in half. This leads to the final Live performance phase where talent performs on a huge stage; here America votes to “save” their favorites, leaving the two Artists with the lowest vote totals, to be eliminated.
The Voice will return to Monday nights on WOWT Channel 6 soon. Stay tuned to our “What’s On 6” Facebook page for updates at https://www.facebook.com/wowt6?fref=ts.
