Update: 15-Year-Old Injured in Officer-Involved Shooting
WOWT
A traffic stop results in an officer-involved shooting. Omaha police shut down the southbound lanes of 84th Street from Interstate 80 to G Street for hours Friday night.
Police say the 15-year-old suspect got out of his car and led officers on a foot chase to 84th & G where he exchanged gunfire with police. That's when a "help an officer" call was put out and dozens of officers responded.
Omaha Police were also assisted by Ralston Police. Acting Chief of Police, Alex Hayes was also on the scene. No officers were injured.
Police confirm the suspect is in critical but stable condition at Nebraska Medical Center.
The reason for the initial traffic stop was expired plates. Two men who were in the vehicle at the time of the stop were taken from the scene in handcuffs. They are 20-year-old Allen Jones and 20-year-old Charles Thompson.
Both were booked for Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana. Thompson was additionally booked for No Proof of Insurance, No Valid Registration, and Bond Review.
