Papillion Firefighter Resigns from State EMS Board
Ann McIntire
A former Papillion Chief Deputy on the fire department who was demoted to a starter firefighter for giving out answers to an exam has resigned from the state's EMS Board.
Jeffrey Strawn's term on the board should have lasted until 2011, after he was appointed by the governor in 2006. However, as the board was looking into his case to decide if he should be removed, Strawn submitted his letter of resignation.
In it he says, "I was involved in an ethical breach by divulging confidential interview questions to aspiring candidates testing for our department. As a result of what can only be classified as a complete lapse of judgment, I have caused much pain, embarrassment and harm to my faith, family, co-workers, friends and community. I am very grateful for the opportunity you have given me to serve on this board and am confident the great work done by all the professional men and women who make up this board will continue to serve the best interests of all the EMS communities throughout the 93 Counties in Nebraska."
His resignation will take effect immediately.
